I need a definition of all the colors that shows up on the Jira Issues Calendar

Do they represent the priority level? 

Do they represent the status of the story/ tasks?

Do you mean the calendar option in a Team-managed project in Jira? That calendar is based on the due dates of the tasks on the board. The overdue tasks are shown as red and so on.
