Our Jira Service accounts encounters Captcha which causes issue for us in places where our Jira interactions are automated.

Apart from "wrong credentials provided", Are there any other reasons/criteria for triggering a CAPTCHA validation on an account? (like may be load generated by an account, handling of session connections by an account)

I have seen this occurring recently for accounts hitting addresses/endpoint for which they do not have permissions.

You should be able to see the reasons for CAPTCHAs by checking the atlassian-jira-security.log files.

The situation in this article has been the cause for some accounts:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/user-unable-to-login-with-you-do-not-have-permission-error-596770904.html

Even though a user authenticates properly, the attempt to access something dissallowed is treated as a reason to increment the failure count, eventually resulting in CAPTCHA.
