Hello everyone,
My organization is using the cloud version of Jira and attempting to use the Smartsheet connector to integrate data bi-directionally between Jira and Smartsheet. I have Jira administrator permissions and made administrator in Smartsheet.
When setting up the connector I mapped fields and clicked Run and received the following error:
Does anyone have an idea how to resolve this error? Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.
Hi @Diatta Harris ,
A similar issue was logged in Smartsheet's community around the Salesforce connector -- with the same warning. Potential solutions were posed here: https://community.smartsheet.com/discussion/comment/377929/#Comment_377929
The problem could be Permissions, Firewall Issue, or the OAuth token needing to be reset.
If you're unable to get Smartsheet + Jira's bi-directional integration working, I recommend looking at spreadsheets that are designed to connect with Jira. Visor is one such spreadsheet -- just as shareable and collaborative as Smartsheet, but designed with a Jira bi-directional integration at the forefront: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1226209/visor-flexible-spreadsheet-for-jira-roadmapping-bulk-edits?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
I hope that helps!

My organization runs into a lot of errors with our Jira-Smartsheet Connectors. We have built our connectors to sync data from multiple Jira projects. Each connector is using the same Jira admin account.
This was all working well for us, but in November 2023 some changes were made to how the connectors function. Rather than setting up one webhook for each connector, they changed it so that all the connectors flow through the same webhook.
When that happened, we started seeing all the connectors running at the same time every few minutes. It resulted in many timeout errors for all of our connectors as they all tried sync data and basically clogged the webhook.
Along with this, Jira Cloud has a limit for how many "requests" one user can make to Jira. When a user reaches that limit, the user gets throttled for 2 minutes and cannot make any more data requests or access Jira at all. Since we setup all of our connectors with one shared admin user account, and it's constantly syncing with Jira, that user gets throttled and the errors appear.
Sometimes when this issue happens, I do get the same error screen that you shared in this post.
I've worked with both Jira and Smartsheet support and cannot find a reasonable solution to this issue. Not sure if the issue you're experiencing is the same as ours.
If you have any suggestions or solutions that you've found, I'd love to hear them! The Jira Connector doesn't seem to work very well and we need it to work better so we can rely on the data that we're porting into Smartsheet!
