Hi all,
We currently leverage Jira Software (Cloud) & Tempo (Cost Tracker, Timesheets) to track both employee hours & budgets spent. However have found that the Tempo Cost Tracker only displays the amount that has been spent and does not show the effort remaining and where you'll be at the end of the project.
Essentially would like to compare forecast of budget (based on resource allocation) vs the actuals (based on resource allocation.
For instance: We have forecasted 12 resource hours remaining on the project, but we a change in scope that would mean we would need to spend 16 resource hours to complete the project. Would want to know the impact on budget between the forecast (12hrs) vs actuals (16hrs).
Is there a product available in Atlassian Marketplace that provides this functionality? Is there an external product that integrates to Jira that does this?
Any assistance/direction would be much appreciated.
Hi Alexandra,
If you already know the scope change, forecasting the budget is simple math. You don't really need a tool for this.
My question is: how do you really know that you only need 16 resource hours. You may know that the change in scope is 4 hours, but is the project on-track up to the 12 hours? Has the team managed to complete the anticipated effort in 12 hours?
Because if the team took 14 hours to complete the 12-hours-anticipated work, then you will need 18 hours to finish, including the change in scope. Even if you have a tool, it would give you wrong results because it would not have the accurate project status.
So how do you track the current status of the project, this is my main concern and for this, you can check this post of mine and let me know your thoughts:
