Jira behind apache reverse proxy - Crucible isn't able to connect to jiras integrated crowd

Hello all,

we have a serious problem with jira. We recently put it behind a reverse proxy with 

ProxyPreserveHost on (module proxy) and also RemoteIPHeader X-Forwarded-For (module remoteip).

We also use crucible on a different server which has set its user management via jira (connecting to JIRA for user management ). 

And exactly this is the problem - we can not reach jiras user management crowd through the proxy.

The error message in crucible on connection test is:

Test basic connection : Failed org.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException: Connect to jira site [jirasite] failed: Connection refused (Connection refused)

Or even if giving the proxy address (which is similar to the jira address):

Connection test failed. Response from the server:
The following URL does not specify a valid Crowd User Management REST service: https://jirasite/rest/usermanagement/1/search?entity-type=user&start-index=0&max-results=1&expand=user

Unfortunately there is not a single help page or howto to find dealing with connecting to jiras integrated crowd manager through a reverse proxy.

Can someone please help us getting this working through a reverse proxy.

In Addition: also jenkins can not reach jiras crowd plugin through the proxy.
