Jira is not able to a database server

My Jira site is stopped working with the error as not able to connect with the database. I tried to uninstall and install it back but still I get the same error.

The database server is up and running. Jira is installed on the same server where SQL Server is installed but it cannot connect to the database.

Any help please to solve this issue

Thank you for your answer. I have installed the Jira and it was working fine but all of a sudden it was not able to connect with database, so I have tried to uninstall and re-install it back. 

But the installation fails with the below error as "not able to connect with the database". The database server is up and running and I tried to install the Jira on the server where database is running.

Please help me to solve this issue.

Can't tell you much more than "your config is wrong" without an error message to work with.  What do you get on-screen and what does the log say?
