Folks
1) Run a query in Jira and dump it in a Database
2) Use PowerBI or other tools to generate the data for you from that database.
3) There is no need to waste money on the plugins
4) Work with your System Engineers to build custom reporting tools using the exported Jira data.
Absolutely , Jira Team has no clue of real world problems.
That's dreadful advice - reporting off a Jira database is the single worst way you can possibly approach it. As an example of just how bad an idea it is - could you give me the SQL query to fetch the data for one issue?
It would be better to define where you are stuck and get advice from people who know Jira than to botch something with a database.
Maybe you could provide some more details and share some of your usecases.
I remember back in the day, like 2-3 years ago using a JIRA connector in PowerBI and it was nice. But at the end went for something custom.
Stock reports do their job for basic requirement. I agree that some of us have pretty complicated views and dashboards which can not be supported by stock JIRA. But I'm pretty sure the "Average Joe" gets by just fine.
