@Saumya Bhatt hey there. If you're open to the idea of using a 3rd party solution - check out ZigiOps. It's 100% code-free, easy to customize and will help you with your migration. It comes with an unlimited number of data transfers.

Hi Saumya,

If you are considering server-to-server migration for Jira, you have a few options available, including using the export-import functionality provided by Jira itself or utilizing various third-party tools specifically designed for Jira Server migration.

However, both approaches may present challenges such as downtime, the need for scripting, and difficult validation processes, especially if you have multiple projects to migrate to, making the whole process cumbersome.

A highly recommended solution is leveraging OpsHub Migration Manager for your Jira to Jira Server migration needs. OpsHub offers a wide range of features, including:

  •  No downtime during migration
  • Hassle-free migration process
  • A factory-based approach for smoother execution
  • Many more beneficial features

OpsHub Migration Manager also supports history-based migration, including comments, attachments, and issue links for all issue types. Additionally, it covers migration for sprints, versions, and boards, ensuring that you do not lose any critical information during the migration process.

If you want to ensure a successful migration, it's recommended to reach out to OpsHub's Migration Experts for an initial discussion on migration planning. Their expertise can help you plan and execute the migration smoothly and efficiently.

Thanks,

Brad

Hello @Saumya Bhatt !  Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

If your destination server is empty (no projects), you could make a backup of your source server with projects and import that into your destination server.

If your destination server has projects and you are picking and choosing projects to move to your destination, you probably have to look into Marketplace apps such as Project Configurator or Configuration Manager for Jira (CMJ)

Hope this helps!

Can we use Project configurator for projects hosted on Jira cloud as well ?

@Saumya Bhatt , I think you're going to have to be specific on what platforms (server/DC, cloud) your source and destination instance so I can help out.

Hello @Saumya Bhatt

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Can you confirm you are working with self-hosted Jira (Jira Server or Jira Data Center) vs. Jira Cloud?

If you are working with self-hosted Jira refer to this documentation:

Hello Trudy, my project is hosted on a Jira Cloud

Are you trying to move the Jira project to another Jira Cloud instance on a different Atlassian Cloud site that hasn't a different base URL?

If you are trying to move Jira data from one Jira Cloud site to a separate Jira Cloud site, refer to this documentation:

https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/move-data-between-jira-cloud-sites/
