In /var/atlassian/jira/log/atlassian-jira-outgoing-mail.log, I can see occasional temporary queuing errors with error codes like "421 4.3.2 Service not active [DB6PR0202CA0022.eurprd02.prod.outlook.com]"

Will the mail handler retry these mails at a later time?

Thanks,

Marc

Hi Marc,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! I see you've opened a ticket with our support team too - but just sharing the answer with the rest of the community too.

Unless there has been a specific email causing an error, Jira will continue to try to send emails every minute, as set by the outgoing mail handler service.

With errors such as these, the emails will be sent out later once the service has become available again, unless there are any further errors with the mail service or the mail server itself.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Keri

Hi Keri,

thanks for your reply, it looks like we had some longer delays between the temp failures and subsequent deliveries which made it a bit difficult to find out what's going on.

Now we just need to figure out how to avoid these delays :)

Thanks,

Marc
