Dear experts,
we use Jira for an agile project with a lot of involved parties/suppliers. Created Userstories (issues). We want to report "bugs" as Storybug (issuetype) in JIra and manage bugfixing in that way. Now we want to register testcases etc. and I noticed the existance of Zephyr for jira-testmanagement. Can we use Zephyr to create/register testcases and link them to storybugs in case there is a bug with that userstory? Any experience? Or can we do it more efficient in a separate way, we thought about excel for all testcases but that is not very efficient.
You advices will be much appriciated,
Thanks so much,
Miranda
Hi Miranda,
My vote goes to QMetry Test Management for Jira and I am using it personally from the past couple of years where you can easily create the test cases, link it with stories, execute them and raise defect/bug and get complete traceability.

Thanks Brian and Peter for you advice.
We will check/test both addons, find out what the difference is and decide from there.
Kind regards,
Miranda

Yes, Zephyr is a very powerful addon for Jira for test management. It automatically creates a new issue type called "Test", which allows you to record test execution steps, log test executions, create and manage test cycles, etc etc. Bugs can be logged against test executions.
Bugs can also be linked to Stories within Jira without the use of Zephyr, just create a link (e.g. "relates to") between the bug and the story.
Another good tool for test management is X-Ray. You should trial them both and see which one you prefer.

Thanks for your answer, if we want to use one of the two tools, do we maintain working with storybugs as we do now?

Yes, Stories and Bugs are just standard issue types in Jira. The test management addons just introduce the "Test" issue type, and allow you to manage test cycles and test executions.
