Good Morning,
I am trying to understand how Jira can automatically create a ticket upon receipt of an email into a particular mailbox as it could be beneficial to have this enabled.
I am aware there is a plug in for outlook but don't know if it is being rolled out yet. I have read this article here.
Can you tell me if this is in use and how we can use it?
Thank you!
Cassie
Hi @Cassie Stewart Welcome to the Community!
Have you tried setting up a mail handler? You can find this under Administration -> System.
You need to configure the mailbox that you want the system to read and then a handler to tell the system which project to create issues into. Please follow this documentation. Hope this helps!
Hi, @Cassie Stewart. Welcome to the community.
This can be done natively in Jira without needing additional plugins, though there are also third-party apps available that enhance this functionality.
For this, go to Jira settings > System > Incoming Mail > Add a mail handler. Then, Customize the mail handler to map email subject lines to issue summaries and email bodies to issue descriptions. Based on the content of the emails, set rules for attachments, comments, and other fields.
Or you can use Outlook Integration (Jira for Outlook), a third-party app.
