Jira upgrade test using VM clone (6.4.6 to 7.5.x)

Marcus Kesper November 1, 2017

I'm planning a Jira upgrade from 6.4.6 to 7.0 to 7.5.x and want to test it first on a VM clone server.

Are there any implications to expect regarding licenses if both instances (prod/test) run in parallel for a short time?

Also, be aware that there is a required interim upgrade from 7.0.x to 7.1.x. You'll have to go from 6.4.6 to 7.0.x to 7.1.x to 7.5.x.

Here's the official Jira upgrade matrix.

Thank you, wasn't aware. Is this because of JIRA gadget rendering change in 7.1?

Yes, I believe so. Another warning: if Jira Service Desk is involved, the upgrade is more complex. There's a reason people hire consultants for these things.

Hi!

1. If it is clone, it will not affected.

2. And you can set developer license into /{jira_home_directory}/dbconfig.xml

2.1. You can get developer  license from my.atlassian.com.
