Kanban View: add three fields in view

Mitch Blobstein May 23, 2025

Is there a way to add a view to to include three fields for the ticket so that I can better prioritize the most important items?   is there a way to put Kanban items in order?    Is there a way to create multiple Kanban views for one project?  aka How can each prime have their own view?

Hey @Mitch Blobstein if you need a more flexible way to visualize your Jira projects and portfolios you should give our app (Visor) a try. You can use it to create Kanban views (and other views like Gantt charts and roadmaps) that stay in sync with Jira.

In Visor you can:

  • Add as many fields as you want to your Kanban cards
  • Customize the order of your Kanban board
  • Add swimlanes based on any dropdown field
  • Create multiple Kanban views for the same project - for example with different fields shown on the cards, or different fields applied (based on assignee, priority, or other criteria).

Here's our marketplace listing - the Kanban Board view is included in our Free plan.

Hello @Mitch Blobstein

To answer each of your questions we must first know what Type of project this concerns. Get that information from the View All Projects page under the Projects menu. Find the project in the list and tell us what it says in the Type column.

Is there a way to add a view to to include three fields for the ticket so that I can better prioritize the most important items?

Are you talking about adding fields to the items displayed in the Backlog screen?

Screenshot 2025-05-23 at 11.00.53 AM.pngFor Company Managed project boards yes, it is possible to add fields to the "cards". That is not supported for Team Managed project boards. There is a change request about that:

is there a way to put Kanban items in order?

How do you want them ordered? Typically in an agile board (kanban or scrum) the issues are order by an internal field called Rank. The Rank denotes an issues order relevant to the issue above and below it. The underlying filter for the board will use an ORDER BY Rank clause to display the issues based on this.

If you are working with a Team Managed project currently those project support only one built-in agile board. However, it is possible to create and save a Filter for the issues you want to display in a board, and then create a board from a Saved Filter. For a Team Managed project such boards will behave slightly differently because they are based on the architecture used for Company Managed project boards.

Company JIRA and a Software project

Where would I do this?  In Company Schemes or Project setting?  What would be the first section I would go into?

To add fields to "cards" displayed in a board for a Company Managed Software project refer to this documentation.

Did you have a question related to the above?

I'm getting the impression that you may be new to the Jira product. If that is the case you may want to take advantage of the free on-demand training available from the Community Learning area. There is a link for that at the very top of the Community pages.
