Is there a way to get a Kanban board adding columns up by Story Points & setting a limit?
Hi @David Barr 👋
Welcome to the Community! It appears this feature or something very similar has been raised as a suggestion, you can view, vote and monitor the ticket here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWSERVER-12495
I hope this helps but if you have any other questions just ask away 😃
All the best,
Laura
Don't hold your breath. Kanban does not use Story Points or most other numbers as estimates, doing this would mean you're not doing Kanban any more. Atlassian don't tend to build stuff that supports doing not-Kanban with a Kanban board (or not-Scrum with a Scrum board)

And what about using Scrum Boards? I'm not able to set WIP limits based on story points. Any suggestions?
Kind regards,
Marion

Scrum doesn't have work in progress limits, because the sprint does it for you, by definition.
When you plan a sprint, you are committing to completing the stories you have put into a sprint. You would have put in only stories you believe you can complete in the timeframe, based on their estimates.
So you don't need to control the amount of issues in the columns - by definition anything on the active board is within the limits you set.

Hi @David Barr -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Short answer: that is not possible with Jira Cloud, out-of-the-box.

Hi @Bill Sheboy ,
we're wishing to see the same functionality.
What we're trying to solve is: We want to limit the amount of complexity in a column. We use story points to estimate the complexity.
What are your thoughts about that?
Kind regards
Ralf

To limit the complexity, limit the number of cards in a column.
