Link children of an epic created with a rule

margolles January 18, 2024

Hi Forum,

I have a rule that creates several user stories copying the name of the epic and adding a prefix. That is easy. Now, I want to link all children user stories created by that rule.

It could be a simple link like "Relates to". If the children are not related to each other, every time I want to open a sibling it is needed to do it through epic link.

Thank you.

Hi @margolles

If you are willing to use a third-party app, our app Deep Clone for Jira can help you with your use case.

To achieve your goal with Deep Clone you can create a template epic with all its children and then use our Epic/Tree Clone feature  to replicate the template whenever you want.

Thank you.

Hi @margolles! You can do that by using the "link issue" feature in automation. Put one of that action right after every block that creates an issue. Make sure you change "Trigger Issue" to "Most recently created issue".

Thank you for your answer, Santino. The poblem with wthat you propose is not all siblings are related to each other. I have to create 5, and by doing that, the first is only related to second one, the second one with 1st and 3rd, the 3rd with 2nd and 4th... I need all of them related to each other.

I have expored Branching, without success, and looked in the forum for solutions, but nothing yet.
