Is it possible to link releases? E.g. if you have multiple components with their own release numbering, but want a single umbrella release number that the end user would see

Hello @Simon Fox

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

There is not a native feature for that in the Jira Standard plan.

With the Premium plan you would have access to the Advanced Roadmaps Plans feature. This includes the ability to have "cross-project" releases. Here are some reference materials for the Advanced Roadmaps Plans feature.

Thanks Trudy. That's what I thought, but appreciate the confirmation.

Yuri Lapin _Release Management_ July 10, 2025

Hi @Simon Fox ,

Hope you're doing well.

As @Trudy Claspill mentioned in his comment, there are several out-of-the-box options available with Jira Plans.

If you're considering Marketplace apps, you might want to check out our Release Management App for Jira. It supports cross-project releases and keeps them continuously in sync. You can also package releases into Meta-Releases across projects and configure the synchronization logic to enforce a structured release hierarchy. We support classic start-finish dependencies as well, if that suits your process.

Lastly, you might consider managing dependencies via Components—either classic Jira Components or Compass—since that's often where dependencies naturally emerge.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Yuri
