Make custom field available in all new projects

Hi,

We are new to Jira and we need some custom fields which we would like to make available automatically on all issues type screens in all new projects. how do we do that?

First of all you will need to create you custom field.

Once you have created them you will need to create a screen(s) and put these fields onto the screen. 

You can then associate this screen(s) with a Screen Scheme.

When you create a new project you will select the screen scheme in question and use against this project.

When you create any future projects you can choose the option to 'Share setting with an existing project'

You just choose the project you have set up with the correct screen scheme.

Hi Phil,

Thank you the quick reply. Making the custom field and adding it to a screen scheme is clear. We have for now the free plan, so at the moment we cannot choose for a Project template.

When we have the paid version, we could create an project template and use this one. right?

Yes when you have the paid plan, you can copy the templates of existing projects. So your very first project you will have to manually set up. 

For all other new projects you can just copy the first project.
