I have a team managed board and our other system creates an automated ticket in Jira based on certain conditions with the Issue status as "Issue Queue".
How can we make it mandatory to have the Issue type field updated while we move the ticket from "Issue Queue" to "in Progress" status?

Can you explain a little bit more?
By "Issue type field" do you mean the issue type (Task, Bug etc?). Because changing that is a little bit more involved than just updating a field. Or do you have a custom field called Issue type?
