Migrate data from JIRA to Salesforce

Hi All,

We are using a new tool for our project managment and want to restore all data from JIRA to salesforce. We have huge amount of data in JIRA 193224 (Including subtask) or 30082(Standard issues)

Could anyone suggest the approach for data migration from JIRA admin point of view? The new tool is not setup.

There's not a lot we can tell you. The data migration you need will be defined by the capabilities and limitations of each system on each end of the process

Although I'm not even clear whether you're saying you're replacing Jira with another system, or replacing that system with Jira. Could you start with that?

Although, there's no way to replace Jira with Salesforce really. The systems do very different things, so unless your usage of Jira was exclusively as a CRM, Salesforce is going to lose most of your information because it's absolutely not an issue tracker.

We are moving from JIRA to Our new tool saleforce. I being JIRA admin needs assistance if moving all the data from our current JIRA instance to Saleforce. We will start setting up our in new tool soon however data migration would be the most critical step and we dont want to losse and data while we migrate from JIRA to Salesforce.

I know about salesforce connector plugin for JIRA however it costs 10$/10 users and we have thousands of user so we are not comfortable in buying that plugin.

You are going to need to analyse your usage of Jira and map out the bits that do make sense to import into Salesforce. Then think about how Salesforce can import that data. Once you know what you want to pull in and how Salesforce is going to do it, then you can start working out how to get the Jira data out, reformatted into an importable format and how much of it you'lre going to drop.

You'll note that almost all those pieces of work depend on you - you'll need to work out Salesforce mappings for your desired data, what you're going to import from your Jira data, probably look through all the docs on how to import stuff into Salesforce - the only bit we can really help you with is getting the data out of Jira in a format that you can manipulate into a shape that Salesforce can understand (although, you are going to be losing a lot of data unless Jira really is just being used for CRM)
