Hi,

I have migrated quite a few tasks to epics, as they were getting too big. Now I only need to migrate the sub-tasks of these epics to tasks of that epic.

I've searched and searched, and can't seem to find the answer how to do it as a bulk operation. I'm using Jira Cloud.

If I try to bulk edit all sub-tasks, I'm not allowed to add an epic link nor to change the type from sub-task to task/story. When bulk moving all sub-tasks to the task type, I can't at the same time add a link to the epic, which forces me to manually update the epic link for all those issues, which is going to be too time-consuming.

Thank you.

bulk edit your sub-task in bulk and put a label "tobeEpicced"

Then move them to tasks.

then bulk edit your tasks with this label. Remove the label and add an epic link.

first try changing issue types in bulk mode then add epic link at once in bulk,i think it might save your time

I did try this, but its a pain to do in two operations. It also has the disadvantage that when sub-task is converted to a task, it doesn't belong to the epic anymore. Then I would manually have to query for the tasks (which might not be possible if they don't have anything in common other than their parent) and then use that query as the basis for the bulk edit.

Bulk edit of Epic Link does not work for me.  I get "unlabeled" issues -- in the pull down, and then the update fails.

Thank you @shetty.   I did put the screen shots into my comment above.

I *can* do this with Roadmap.     That said, Roadmap is a sorry way to filter issues for action.

This will become a larger problem as the team creates more Epics as we break down our lead Epics .

does drop-down list contain epic link other than Unlabelled-ID-42 like ID-42(epic name)

if it is there select that other than the one that you have selected

Contains

unlabeled-ID-43 , unlabeled-ID-44 and selecting those is not useful.

Thanks for the suggestion.
