My automation is failing because it can't find the field 'Teams'

Tony Parsons September 6, 2023

In JIRA, there's a custom field called 'Team'. When configuring automation, I'm trying to clone issues from one project to another project based on the team that the issues is assigned to.

When configuring the automation, there's an 'issue fields condition' where you can check a specific field for a specific value. In this case I am checking the team field if it's software development or analytics so that the cloned issue knows where to go.

The problem is that the automation keeps failing because it can't find the field 'Teams'. When I go to custom fields, there is a field called 'Team' without the (s) but the dropdown list is the same as the 'Teams' field it picks up in the automation.

Is the automation simply failing because of the naming convention of the 2 fields being different? There's no field called 'Teams' in the custom fields section.

Now, I would edit the name of the custom field 'Team' to 'Teams' to see if that works but the field 'Team' is locked.

How can I edit the field 'Team'? Or, how do i get this automation work? Or how do I create my own custom field called 'Teams' that behaves the same way as the current 'Team' field?

I ended up creating my own custom field and changed the field condition to look for the new field instead of the 'Teams' field
