Need to hide a field based on other field value on 'Transition Screen'

We need to hide a field based on another field value on ‘Transition Screen' in Jira Software Cloud. And also, can we make one field mandatory or optional based on another field value? Any workarounds on how to achieve this?

This isn't possibly natively - you're going to need an App for this.

I'd check out Apps such as...

• Scriptrunner for Jira 
• Power Scripts - Jira Workflow Automation 
• ...or another App from the Marketplace

You could contact the vendors to ask if their App is able to do this. Their contact details are on each listing's Support tab.

I am part of the Decadis team and I would like to propose a solution using our app JWT for Jira Cloud.

Although I am not sure if it is possible to hide a field based on another field in a transition screen, if you create two different transitions and add different sets of fields in their transition screens, a Jira expression condition could hide one of the transitions to the current user depending on a field value of the current issue.

For the second approach, a Jira expression validator could be used to evaluate a field only if another field has a value. The expression might vary depending on the type of field that needs to be evaluated.
