Need to remove fields from the "Create issue" screen only

I need to remove or hide several fields from the "Create issue" screen for everyone in a project. There are certain fields they should not fill out immediately, but it keeps happening. I have created a copy of the Default issue screen below that removes those fields, but I cannot figure out how to assign it to only "Create issue" while leaving the Edit and View as they are now.

I have searched for an answer for an hour now, and I keep finding "kinda similar" questions, but nothing that directly solves this.

Ok, so I thought I was missing something but apparently I'm not... I have created a new screen to use for Create Issue, but when I edit the default screen scheme and use "Associate an issue operation with a screen", that new screen is not available. I am an org admin and just created this project this morning, so I have full permissions.

Hi Nikki,

Ideally if you created a screen it should be there in the "associate issue" drop down. try to give the screen a very fancy name so that it's easy to find and if you can share some screenshots, that will be great.

Thanks,

Hello @Nikki

You need to modify the "NWC: Kanban Default Screen Scheme". Do you see the pencil icon to the right of the screen scheme? If you don't, you will need to work with a Jira Administrator to make the change. If you do see the pencil, click on it.

You will see up to four entries, but may see fewer.

Default is the screen that will be used for the Create, Edit, and View operations if those operations are not explicitly listed. So you need Default set to the original screen.

If the operation is listed explicitly below Default, then the screen named for that operation is the one that will be used for that operation. So, you need to associate the new screen with the Create operation. If you see it in the list, you can click Edit next to it on the right to change the screen associated with the operation. If you don't see it listed, then click on the button in the upper right labeled Associate an issue operation with a screen. You can then pick the operation and the screen to use.

If the Edit and View operations are listed, you can either delete them from the list so they will use the screen associated with Default or you can explicitly have them in the list and associated to the screen you want to use for them.

Hello @Nikki Hailey

when I edit the default screen scheme and use "Associate an issue operation with a screen", that new screen is not available.

Can you show us the Screens page filtered to show the new screen you created?

Can you then show us what you see in a Screen Scheme when you attempt to associate a that screen to an operation?

Hello @Nikki

Hope you are doing well. I think the problem is you need a separate screen for "create issue" and you can use another screen for view/edit action. Since you are using the same screen for all actions if you remove the field from the screen it will never show up on the edit/view screen for the issue.

So what you can do is copy this screen and rename it as something like " NWC: kanban Create issue screen" and then assign that screen to the create action. Then if you will remove the fields from that screen, the edit/view screen will still have it.

I hope this helps. If you see the screenshot, it will show you create has a separate screen which can be assigned from the button "Associate an Issue operation with a screen" in right corner.

Thanks,
