Need to switch Jira admin

Hi,

Our current Jira admin is no longer with our organization. How can we add or switch a user admin in our current Jira?

Hello,

Welcome to Community :) 

As Trudy  mentioned could you please confirm if you are referring to Org admin or Jira admin?

Org admin : 

To make someone an organization admin:

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Directory > Users.

  3. Select a user.

  4. Select more actions (•••).

  5. Select Assign org admin role.

  6. Select Assign role.

If the org admin itself is not present in the company and no one can be assigned the role then you would have to reach out to support here so that they can further help you here : https://support.atlassian.com/contact/

Jira Admin:

If that particular user has some issues assigned to them then you can bulk change the assignee. Similarly you can check if they are owner of a filter or Dashboard and change the owner

Have you contacted your company's technical support team to see if they can help?

 

Do you mean a user that was just a Jira Admin, or do you mean your one and only Cloud Organization Admin?

If the person was just your Jira Admin and there is still somebody who is an Organization Admin, that person can designate another person as a Jira Admin.

 

 

If you have lost your one and only Organization Admin you will need to contact Atlassian for help. You can open a support case with the Billing/Licensing support team here:

https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact/purchasing-licensing#/

They will need to verify that the request comes from a valid representative of the company that owns the products in the Organization. If so, they will be able to help you get another person designated as the Organization Admin.

And if you are in that latter scenario, I recommend that you talk to the management or technical support teams within your company about instituting process to ensure that there are always multiple people designated as Organization Admins so that you don't have this problem again.
