Hello Atlassian experts! My original problem was that sub-task story point estimates are not summed up in the parent story, or epic, and next-gen projects don't appear to offer traditional estimates in h/d/w.
I have found proposed solutions for this. But I do not want to sum up all story points in the parent Story - that would tell me how much the feature "costs" to make in terms of time investment, but wouldn't show me how many days of a certain person's time I need in the sprint.
I want the story points for each sub-task for each person to be displayed in "SUM UP" filter statistics on a dashboard, as story points for tasks and stories are done. So for example if I have a Story where:
- Judy has 3 sub-tasks (design a chicken (1), draw the chicken (3) , paint the chicken(2))
- Patrick has 2 sub-tasks (animate the chicken (5), make the chicken sparkle (2))
What I need to see in my "two dimensional filter statistics" is that Judy has a total of 5 story points for that whole story, whilst Patrick has a total of 7 story points for that whole story. NOT that the whole story is 12 story points.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this? The only thing I can think of it to reorganize my entire project and start using epics instead of stories to organize all the tasks in a feature, but then I would really be missing one "level" of organization (i.e. how would I make it clear at a glance to what product a feature belongs?)
Cheers!
Hi @Souni Breil,
I think you can solve this issue as per Sum up Story points to epic - Jira Automation is a somewhat new feature.
There are also a few different plugins that will help you to achieve this; Sum Story Points to Epic.
Thanks,
Moga
