No JQL or field indexing on the backlog search

Working in the classic board backlog, the search field at the top is pretty much useless, as it only seems to index the issue ID and name. Without setting up a quick filter, I have no way to filter the view by label or other custom field identifier.

Is there a setting (or plug in) specifically for the backlog view to either:

A) turn on JQL search in this search field

B) set specific fields you'd like the search to index (such as labels for example)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Is there a reason you need to do this search in the backlog view?

If not, I'd suggest doing a regular issue search for tickets in the backlog status and then what ever other identifiers you are looking for.

Thanks for the response, Lizzie.

I prefer to work in Backlog as I find the layout, epics and drag & drop ability faster and more intuitive to navigate than the issue view.
