No projects available to be associated with Schemes

Deleted user March 8, 2022

I tried checking the earlier forums on the same issue - but got no answer.   We have recently got a standard JIRA licence for 100 users.  I spent hours creating customized workflows for new issue types, created screens and Schema and configured customized fields etc and now I cannot associate my project to these new Issue Types.  Somebody please help! My 100 users licence will go waste if we don't have this feature! I might as well go back to maintaining xls!

Hi @[deleted], setting up projects can be difficult in the start.

First of all make sure that the project that you are trying to change is of the type company managed as the team managed has internal settings that do not display.

Second make sure you have both parts required example:

Issue Types are assigned to Issue Type Schemes

Workflows are assigned to Workflow Schemes

In the project you will assign the scheme not the specifics

Once you have done both then go into the project settings, easiest is to go to the summary. In the top left should state issue types and the current scheme. Press the link and if you have the permission you should see an action menu to the right, choose "Use a different Scheme"

Repeat for workflows, issue type screen schemes, field configuration and permission

Thanks Krister - I have done all the correct steps in terms of assigning issue types to Issue Scheme and workflow to Workflow schemes - my only limitation now is restricted access to Company Managed Projects due to different ways of working for different depts - hence have to stick to creating only Team Managed prjs

OK, i would just speak with your admin and state your case, creating a new project and using your settings wont affect any other project / department and since you've already created all the settings it should not take any time for them.

Alternative is that you use the settings for the team managed project. Most things can be configured in the project settings, you just cant share them with other projects. Since you have already done the design process on what you want it should not take that much time to remake it as a team project.

Yes I will try talking to the Admin - as long as my settings do not impact other prjs

Thanks Krister !

Hi @[deleted] ,

are you sure that you created a company managed projects? Just this type of projects can be associated to schemes.

Probably you are trying to associate team-managed project to schemes ... and it is not possible.

Please, let me know if this is your scenario.

Yes Fabio - its a team managed project and not Company managed project.  The issue is we are different departments in the same company and each dept can only create Team Managed Projects.  So looks like I have no option :(  Cudnt JIRA just disable the create Scheme option so ppl dont venture only to realise you cannot associate a project :-I

No, this won't be disabled, because you need to create and maintain schemes for Company-managed projects.
