Not able to create filter to display issues in an Epic

Gosia Gudan November 3, 2021

Hello, I have a problem with the filters in the issue navigator.

I use Epics in my project and I want to be able to create a filter for all the issues in a single Epic.

When I select a filter for Epic Name or Epic Link, the list is empty (and I have 39 epics in that project), please see screenshot:

When I use JQL to create a filter it's not giving me any results (and I have 23 child issues in the selected epic):Screenshot 2021-11-03 at 14.42.45.png

We have many projects in the company, and on other projects, I have no problems with creating such filers.

I'll appreciate it if someone can help me to understand what is wrong here.

Thanks!

Are you using a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? It will say at the bottom of the navigation pane when you are viewing the project's board.

If you are using a Team Managed project, the field you need to use in your search, set to the Epic Issue Key, is Parent.

Company Managed projects record the parent Epic Issue Key in the Epic Link field for a child issue. Team Managed projects record the parent Epic Issue Key in the Parent field for a child issue.

@Trudy Claspill

Bingo, it worked! I use team-managed project.

Thank you for your help! :)

Hi @Gosia Gudan

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!!!!

Yes Whatever you have written JQL which is correct you missed to use " " at your epic issuekey number. Once you add it will show your linked issues.

I have attached a screenshot for your reference.

Please let me know if its helpful!!!

Hey @Mayur Jadhav

Thank you for the reply.

I tried both with "and without, and it didn't work. It looks more like the stories don;t really have a connection with the Epic.

Please see screenshots:

1. Epic linked in the filter has 23 child issues, nothing is displayed:

2. When filter for all the stories in my project, epics are not displaying in the Epic Name and Epic Link columns

Maybe this could be the reason:

I'll appreciate any advice here.

I didn't find any information about this in the project settings.

Hi @Gosia Gudan

I guess all relationship between epic and story is missed, you need to manually create relationship again.
