Number of "not resolved issues", average time of not resolved issues

Michael Strickler July 30, 2018

Hello everyone

We are working with Jira.

With the gadget "resolution time" you can see how the team worked in the past. So how many issues with "not resolved time" have been completed.

This does not say anything about the remaining issues of a team that have not yet been edited (whether or not they need to be dealt with in this sprint). And either "in progress" or "open", but not yet completed.
Now, in addition to the "resolutuon time", we also like to see the incomplete issues displayed with their age.
Than we can say on what issue the team have to work (according the level and the age of the issue) and how is the quality of the issue board of a considered team in general.

Have you any idea how we can work whit Jira in this way? Wiht what gadget?

Thank you for helping me.

Kind regards

Michael Strickler

@Michael Strickler, after reading your inquiry a couple times I believe the key thing you are looking for is the "age" of an issue and being able to display that in a filtered list.

Going off that assumption, unfortunately Jira does not have a calculated field for this. Please feel free to vote/watch - JRASERVER-12958.

Options:

  • live w/ the limitation and simply use a filtered list of open issues on your dashboard and sort by created date. Doesn't give you a 'number of days open' but should be pretty obvious.
  • leverage an addon, e.g. EasyBI where you can calculate the age of unresolved issues (current date - created date).

Hello @Michael Strickler, this is similar to https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Software-questions/Number-of-quot-not-resolved-issues-quot-average-time-of-not/qaq-p/855461 and can be solved the same way (use the Filter-Results Gadget and configure a JQL-Filter fitting your needs).

Here are some reports we have on our demo account for open issues and an average age of open issues:

Average age by intervals will give you an overview of a count of unresolved issues based on some periods (x days old, x month old, you can set your own intervals):

Average age of open issues over time will give you count of unresolved issues at any period and average cumulative age of open issues.

Average age by assignees will give an average age of unresolved issues for each Assignee. You can use any other field or custom field for grouping unresolved issues instead of Assignees as well.

Those are just examples. eazyBI allows you to create many custom reports and KPIs.
