OnDemand: Server location

We are planning to use Jira and some other products from Atlassian. Therefore we need to know if the "OnDemand" Solution is the right one for us.We are located in Germany.

• Where are the "OnDemand" Server located? Can you choose in the order process?
• How is the performance of the "OnDemand" Server? Ping,Loading-times, etc.?
• Is it possible to download backups from the Server (everything: projects, data, attachments, ...) easily?

Hi Dennis,

To answer your questions:

• The platform is located in the USA, there is no other choice available than this platform.
• Performance is hard to put a number on, since this is highly dependend on local networks, ISP connections, instance size, etc. You can perform a 30 day free evaluation to experience the performance of an OnDemand instance
• It is possible to generate and download full site backups from the instance. In order to reduce load on the platform, a limitation of 1 backup per every 48 hours has been set. Despite this, Atlassian makes backups for disaster recovery purposes every 24 hours. If for any special reason, another backup within 48 hours is required, Atlassian Support can assist on this, this is however to be used as an exception and is by no means a structural service.
