Possibility of using Roadmap to see the development of tasks inside Roadmap - Visual Management

Paulo Vinicius de Oliveira September 18, 2020

Similar to the Epics visualization inside the roadmap, I want to know if it's possible to break the epics in tasks and also see those tasks in function of the time.

For example, one epic is set to be done in 3 months, and that epic has 10 tasks. Instead of only seeing inside the roadmap the status of the tasks, I also want to see their start date/due date to simplify my and my team's visual management.

Is there a way of doing it? Maybe another App?

Hi,

the Basic Roadmap feature's been release in a beta version in late August, maybe some other features could be release soon, so, I suggest to check periodically this: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17214.

The Basic Roadmap displays epics and their children, not the issues linked to the epic (any relationship: 'blocks', 'relates to'...).

When expanding an epic by clicking on the arrow at the left of its name, the children issues will be displayed with:

  • issue type icon
  • issue key
  • summary
  • workflow status
  • current assignee, if exists

So, choose an epic, then you have two equivalent ways:

  • click on the "Add a child issue" button and select a task (existent or brand new)
    OR
  • click on the "Add more issues" at the left of the "Child issues" section and select a task (existent or brand new)

The issue will become an epic's child and you can visualize it in the Basic Roadmap.

If your business requirements are not satisfied yet, you can take a look at "Advanced Roadmap".

Documentation:
viewing-work (§Schedule bars)
monitoring-progress-of-work  (§Progress bar.  You can choose the metrics to display progress: estimated hours, story points or number of issues.)

Hope this help.

This is my experience, but maybe someone else would like to share his! :-)

Regards,
Giulia
