Possible to transition from one field tabs to another?

Chauncy Sapien August 20, 2019

I am trying to create a form based on a workflow. The goal is to have a new request come in and a specific person fills out their part according to the spot in the workflow.

In Jira, I currently have 6 field tabs all with custom fields and I am trying to find a way to have one person in charge of creating the issue and filling out the first tab, another person will input data on the second tab, and so on based on when the previous person is done filling out their tab and passes it on in the workflow.

Currently when I transition to the next step in the workflow if I hit edit all of the fields from all of the tabs come up and if i hit create issue, it creates an entirely new issue. Not sure what else to try here.

Hi @Chauncy Sapien ,

You can create 6 unique Transition Screens and have someone fill out their relevant information each time the workflow progresses to its next state.

Define it through the screen scheme where you can have separate screens for creating, editing and viewing.

If you want even further control add screens at different transition stages through the workflow settings, that way you can control the person that can transition as well as the screen to be filled out.

There may be other ways to do this, but I create a different screen to be used on each transition that includes the fields I want that person to complete. Their instructions begin with click the button to transition to the next step, that causes the screen to pop up, once they complete the fields and click the button at the bottom of their screen, their tab is completed. If needed, you can also make some of the fields required on transition.

Do you do this under the post functions?

Which part? For the screen, you would first create the screen, then you would edit the transition to add a screen for the transition. If you are referring to the required fields on transition. That would be a validator, forgot to mention before, this requires JSU - Jira Suite Utilities add on.

Thank you very much, that helps me out a lot!
