Post function to set Remaining Estimate to zero

Dear Jira community,

Our team is using time tracking in hours to define issues. The workflow is simple (open -> in progress -> done). When resolving the issue from status 'In Progress' to 'Done' we have a problem where Remaining Estimate value field stays with its value in the Done column and therefore affects reports (especially Resources in BigPicture). How can we make it to automatically set this value to 0?

We have tried to edit the workflow set for the specific project and define the transition line (the one from In Progress to Done) by setting the Post Functions. The exact function says: 'The Remaining Estimate of the issue will be cleared.' and it is set as no. 1 priority. Still, the Remaining Estimate doesn't get cleared.

Detailed use case:

1. Sprint issue is defined with multiple required fields including Original Estimate set to 2h and Remaining Estimate also set to 2h
2. Developer takes on an issue from Active Sprint tab and puts it from Open status to In Progress
3. Developer resolves an issue and logs 1h of work
4. The issue now has 1h logged and 1h value in Remaining Estimate
5. Developer puts the issue in Done column
6. An issue still has the value Remaining Estimate set to 1h instead to 0h as the issue is Done

Yes, the setup was pretty straightforward. The only thing I didn't notice that all the changes you make are only draft and start working after you publish the changes.

For some reason, the answer I posted to myself isn't here anymore, so once more:

I resolved the problem by publishing a draft of the edited worklflow. It is not enough to only make changes and close the editing of workflow.

I dont use BigPicture but I am not sure how setting remaining estimate to 0 helps in Reports, say Sprint Report.

@Abhishek  , it helps if your board has 'tracking remaining estimate' option set..

Also, to reflect the reality that when the task is set to done, there is no remaining effort - this automation helps.
