Prevent Main ticket from Closing unless all the Linked Issues (relates to) are Closed

Hi Team,

I have an issue which gets created in JSM Project.

When it reaches to a Status called "Test",  Two Linked Issues (relates to) gets Created.

Both the Linked issues belong to two different Software Projects and One issue has a Done status in the Workflow and the other has Closed status

The Main issue should close only after the linked Issues are closed.

We use ScriptRunner for Jira.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Regards

Hi @Sriharsha

I would like to let you know that you can create this scene using our Jira workflow Toolbox app, which comes with a free trial period.

For instance, what you are asking for can be done by adding  our validator "Validation of linked issues" and then selecting the following:

  1. Filter by link type: relates to (Relates)
  2. Filter by status: Closed
  3. Additional options:
    1. Allow unselected link types
    2. Allow unselected issue types
    3. Allow unselected resolutions

Additionally, you can add an error message to display to other users why the transition cannot be executed.

You can read more about JWT in our documentation

Hi @I.Kharab , thank you for your response!

We do have JWT plug-in but when we migrate to Cloud in future, we don't want to use this. Any alternate solution to this?

Hi @Sriharsha , here is a previous post that may help - Prevent-Workflow-Transition-to-Done-if-Linked-Issues...

also if you happen to have the Jira workflow toolbox app then you can achieve using a Condition on the transition.

Hi @Jack Brickey , thank you for the quick response!

We don't have JWT app.

Will keep you updated by going through the above post shared by you.
