Problem with importing a CSV into Jira

Adrian Perry February 7, 2019

Hi all,

So I'm trying to import all my tickets from youtrack into jira. The problem starts when I look at how the tickets ended up. Our tickets have screenshots, and Jira only shows the HTML for those screenshots rather than the screenshots themselves. Does the csv actually migrate the attachments to Jira, or am I doing something wrong? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Adrian,

When you open the csv, what kind of information do you see for the screenshots? Does YouTrack return html, or is it pointing to some filepath?

As you probably read https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver073/importing-data-from-youtrack-861253698.html there are some limitations with csv import. There are workarounds, but this will depend on what can be extracted from YouTrack.

It just returns HTML. It also does this if the tickets came from emails in youtrack.

Basically anything hat wasn't typed in Youtrack turns into a mess of HTML when migrating to Jira from a CSV.

That's unfortunate, on YouTrack's part.

Sounds like it will need more detailed investigation. Would recommend contacting a local Atlassian partner for some assistance - www.atlassian.com/partners

They can have a look under the hood, perhaps parse the HTML or use the YouTrack API to get your data out
