Progress-Field in CSV Export - JIRA Cloud

Michael Augustin June 4, 2025

Hello Com.,

has anyone ever tried to export the 'Progress' field? Theoretically, a progress bar should be displayed/calculated in the export for an issue (EPIC, Story, Task) with sub-issues. The calculations in the columns are correct, but they are not transmitted during the export (whole numbers would be sufficient).

Has anyone gained experience with this or has a workaround for it? Thank your for your time!

Progress = empty are Sub-Tasks or Tasks without a Sub-Task.

@Michael Augustin I don't think you will able to export that field directly.

Jira only renders the progress as a visual component in the UI. CSV exports don't convert that visual component into a numeric percentage or value. The field is not a native numerical field in the issue schema - it’s kinda derived.

As a workaround you may introduce your own numeric Custom field, and then set up an automation which will copy the behaviour of the original "Progress" field, updating the custom field you craeted. Such a field could be easily exported to CSV.

Another alternative (especially if you are up to 10 users team) could be using 3rd part apps including the one proposed by @Aron Gombas _Midori_ or, for instance, the one my Team developed (Report Builder).

Hey @Rustem Shiriiazdanov _Actonic_ thanks for your answer and your time!

The workaround with a automation is very smart, thank you - i´ll test it!

@Michael Augustin You can export this using the Better Excel Exporter app.

It exports this to a proper percentage-format number cell without rounding! Give it a try.

(This is a paid and supported app developed by our team. Free for 10 users!)
