Hi Team,
We are trying to update the project key GIDAS to GIDA where we are getting error it already existed but does not exist in archived projects and there is no trace to use in Jira.
May I know the cause, or any bug raised for it?
Hi @Menaka M
Welcome to the community.
If on a project a key has changed or needs to be changed, the last keys are retained in history.
You would need to trash and delete the project to get this removed from the instance.
But you can unlink them, see tis article; Announcing-the-ability-to-unlink-previously-used-project-keys
Hi @Menaka M
NO on DC you will need to delte the project to re-use a project key.

Hi @Menaka M Welcome to the Community!
It could be due to that a project already exists with this key. If you are unable to find it in the current project lists(check through the admin panel), then you may check the archived or deleted project lists.

To check the trash for Jira projects in Data Center (DC), navigate to Settings > Projects and select Trash from the sidebar.
