Question about Application link between Jira and Confluence and the user base options

I am looking into turning on the Jira and Confluence Application links. This page describes the process. https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/APPLINKS034/Configuring+Authentication+for+an+Application+Link

It's not too clear in the part about Do the two applications you are linking share the same user base or not. We are using the same base LDAP users and server, but only a subset of our confluence users are using Jira. In fact we have a 100 user license for Confluence but only a 10 user license for Jira. I'm not clear what implications of choosing that they have the same user base might have.

This is usually for having the users with same name to be in touch with their other parts in the other application.

So basically if you have 100 user in one side, and 10 in another, you don't have the same base of users.

This should not do or perform anything unusual from happening on your side.

Other then this, the really importante thing is to have a clear communication way from Confluence to JIRA ( this means that if you are using http, both must use the same protocol, if https, both need to be https), and setup a trusted level according to what you need, trusted is the best option, OAuth works well, but have some security concenrs ( which are explained in the same document you've sent) and Basic HTTP.

Hi Guilherme,

I went ahead and configured oauth access between my confluence and Jira server but the OAuth process does not seem to be honoring the base URL for my confluence server. It keeps trying to authorize back to the server, not through the apache proxy server. Any idea how to stop that from happening?
