Question regarding custom field context and various kind of scheme

Hello there,

In JIRA, you can set context for custom field. Is there any limit of number you can set for context? Does adding many context to one custom field affect JIRA performance?

Also, we've got a similar question for JIRA scheme (such as field scheme, notification scheme, permission scheme etc).

Is there any upper limit for number of scheme which can be created within JIRA? Does creating many scheme affect JIRA performance?

Hi Daisuke,

There is no hard limit in JIRA for the number of contexts, schemes, fields, etc. You are free to create as many as you wish, but they will affect performance in the long run. The numbers are a little hazy, but please check out our JIRA tuning article:

It is important to plan and reuse your schemes, especially for large JIRA instances.
