API Access to JIRA Cloud with R

I've been attempting to connect to JIRA Cloud through an API key to pull issue information. Everytime I try to use the GET function I receive an error that states something to the effect of: "Basic authentication has been deprecated see this documentation."

I'm assuming the issue is the authentication(username,pswd,type =basic) line that is the problem. But I don't know how else to authenticate with R.  Has anyone out there had any experience with this?

Yes, you'll need to change your code so that it uses a supported authentication.  Start at https://confluence.atlassian.com/confeval/other-atlassian-evaluator-resources/atlassian-cloud-authentication-saml-sso-g-suite-atlassian-account-and-ldap

Thanks Nic Brough - I did and utilized an api key.  But still no luck.  Though I was able to get the api search anyway.  Unfortunately it didn't retain the type of data I needed.
