Abnormal Text Formatting in Jira Software Cloud

Christopher Yiu January 16, 2019

Hello everyone,

Below is a rather odd condition that my team and I have experienced recently when using JIRA Software.  This happens when unordered list (bullet) is being used.

Assume that the user would like to bold one of the line items in the unordered list, if there are additional items at the same level, the text editor would automatically create new lines.

Here is an example:

Before hitting "Save":

Before Save.PNGAfter "Save" is clicked:

After Save.PNG

As shown by the red circle, the application automatically break the Sub line 2 testing into 3 separated lines.  There seems to be no reason for that, since doing the same thing in Confluence does not generate any similar condition.

Your advance is highly appreciated. Thank you.

Chris

Hello Christopher,

Indeed, we've already verified this problem in the new markup formatting of the new issue view, so we properly reported it as a bug for our development team:

Line will break before and after formatted text in a bullet list's line if there is a sub-bullet list in the next line

Please, add yourself as a watcher on the bug reported to receive notifications about the progress of our developers implementing the fix for this bug. Also, refer to our Bug Fixing Policy to know how it is prioritized.

For now, you can keep using the old view of JIRA to format your bullet topics with bold/code syntax using the wiki markup.

Let me know if you still have any questions
