Is there a way to add syntax highlighting to Jira like one can add new brushes to Confluence? Most of the answers I see are quite old OR point to the Prism highlighter (which seems a bit user hostile).
Anyone have ideas? I'd like to be able to add a brush in the same manner.
Hi Mike,
Besides Prism there's not another way I know of to include more languages in Jira syntax highlighting.
Could you let me know if there are specific languages you're looking to add? I can see if there's a feature request for those. We did recently add a lot more languages as a result of case JRASERVER-21067.

Shannon
Hi Shannon,
Yup... that was the only way I found as well. I just didn't "like" it as it is that bit of a kludge that one has to switch out of visual mode to use it. The specific ask was "Elixir" highlighting which isn't in there. There were a ton of helpful ones added when I got to 7.8.2 but not the "special" ones my user base asked for.
I'll toss that in production then and put in a banner on Jira that a) it's there and b) how to use it. I did try it in my test instance and it was benign so no worries about hurling into prod during the day.
Thanks for your reply. As always, I appreciate your help
mike

Shannon, any plans to add Gherkin, a.k.a Cucumber as a supported syntax?

Hi David,
Not at this time, but Prism does include Gherkin highlighting.
I've created a feature request below that you can vote on in order for our team to consider including Gherkin in the future.
Take care,
Shannon

Hi Shannon,
Unfortunately you referred me to an unsupported add-on that is only available for JIRA server; and we're on cloud.
Thank you for creating the enhancement ticket. I've voted accordingly. Just concerned this will go where many of the the smaller, 'simpler' requests seem to go with JIRA... into a dead zone.

Hi David,
My apologies; this thread was originally in regards to Jira Server, so I had assumed you were on the same.
I've created the same request for Cloud, which is more relevant to you.
Regards,
Shannon
