Add watchers using import CSV file?

Venkata Abhishek Bankapuri March 18, 2025

Hey,

I am trying to create a bunch of Jira subtasks using Import CSV function. Is there a way to add all the watchers needed to each ticket using this Import CSV file?

Hi @Venkata Abhishek Bankapuri,

While I haven't tried that, it should be possible according to this support article. A couple of things to keep in mind:

  • Watchers are users, so you'll need to reference them with their account id or email address in your csv file.
  • The people you list in your csv file must be existing Jira users. Otherwise they will not be imported.
  • If you want to add multiple watchers to a single issue, you will need to add several Watchers columns to your csv file, all with the same column title and each one listing a single watcher (user).

Hope this helps!

@Walter Buggenhout , sorry. I mentioned that I was able to find the mapping before by mistake.  I am not able to Map watchers in mapping. What field do we map to add watchers?
