Adding Fields to Project "Details" Page

jgraceeapexpert June 8, 2018

Hi All,

I want to add a "Product Owner" field to the details of my project but don`t know how or if this is possible. Would I be able to get some help?

Additionally, on this same screen it uses the field Project Lead but when viewing all of your Jira projects, it labels it as Owner. This is very confusing. Is this able to be changed as well?

Thanks for the help!

Hello @jgraceeapexpert,

I get what you want, you wish you could add a Product Owner to the project itself, right? Other users brought this up in the past, way in the past, to allow administrators to assign custom fields to a project, this way you would be able to create the Product Owner custom field and assign it.

This is the feature request: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-1991

As you can see it's an old one, but we keep revisiting it, it's not closed, so it's not something that may never exist built-in the product, on the other hand, back then, we provided some add-ons as an option to customers, they were just for server, but as I checked, the Profields add-on has a Cloud version, I'd strongly suggest that you take a look at it to see it's features, take a free trial, I believe you can achieve what you want.

Edit: About your questions on the current Project details and navigator screens, it's not possible to add custom fields there and also not possible to rename the columns, but you make a good point about matching the names, I've raised this suggestion request about that:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-69632

Leave your thoughts in it if you think I did not cover everything you have in mind! Also check our information about [how Atlassian implements New Features|https://confluence.atlassian.com/support/implementation-of-new-features-policy-201294576.html], in case you wish to understand how we triage feature requests.

Let us know if you have more questions on this.

Thank you very much for the informative response @Rodrigo B_! It is greatly appreciated! I will look into if Profields add-on will work for my needs.

I also wanted to know if its possible to either change names on this page (the one I first screenshotted) or on the page below to change either the Project lead field to another name or the Owner field to another name? Its confusing how there are different names on both of these pages for the same field.Captur2.JPG

Hey @jgraceeapexpert,

Apologies, I noticed shortly after that I missed that, I edited my comment, but here you go:

HI @Rodrigo B_ ,

Greetings !!!

I have a request, is it possible to add another field called Project Id (Text field) in the project details page, so that it would help the finance team while generating the reports. Because every project is unique and it has its own id. Please let me know if there are any concerns. Thank you!

Hi @Prasad Dintakurthi

You might be able to achieve your goal using the same suggestion above with the Profields add-on, did you find any blocker to use the add-on for this purpose as well? We believe you can create multiple custom fields for the projects.

Thanks,

Hi  @Rodrigo B_ ,

Thanks for providing valuable information, but I am looking for something like adding an extra field to the project details page. This Profields is more like a combination of portfolio and Jira dashboards. If there is any other workaround to add an extra field on the project details page, please share it with me. Appreciate your response. Thank you so much.

Hi @Prasad Dintakurthi

The main feature of Profields is provide "Custom Fields" or properties to project level. With profields you can have different type of fields ir order to organize and categorize your projects.

These fields are not available in the project details, but you can add your project details into the project layout:

Customize project properties and track them through a visual timeline with all the changes of Jira projects

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

You can learn more about Profields here or contact us through our service desk.

Hi @Prasad Dintakurthi

There is currently no way to customize the project details page, Jira does not have the custom field for projects capability native, hence the recommendation of using an add-on.

@Rodrigo B_   and @Leo Diaz - Deiser Thanks for the information

Hi @Yogesh Mude,

Thank you for the welcome.

This is not what I am looking at. I am looking at adding this field on this screen as seen below.

sorry @jgraceeapexpert, I thought in Issue view screen.

Adding field to project details page is not possible without third-party add-on or code change..

Not a problem at all @Yogesh Mude. I understand. Is it possible to edit the "Owner" field on this screen to match the "Project lead" from the previous screenshot I sent?

HI @jgraceeapexpert

Use https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1210816/profields-jira-project-custom-fields?hosting=server&tab=overview add-on and see if it works as you want because Here is the same question brought by one of the users and someone has suggested to use this addon.
