Advanced Roadmap - Scenarios and dependencies

climpens March 28, 2025

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the Jira Roadmap tool and I have a question about the scenarios and dependencies.

I created different scenarios and when I make changes in one of the scenarios by moving a task/epic/story in my timeline, I would like that it takes into account the dependencies I define and also moves the tasks linked to the one I changed. Is that possible ?

Thanks in advance for your help !

Cindy

Hi @climpens ,

this can be achieved by using Jira automation.

Ref : https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Jira-questions/Automation-rule-Update-Child-Issue-Assignee-when-Assignee-for/qaq-p/2783491

Try performing few tests with the google results, it should ideally work in this case.

Hello @Jehan Bhathena

Thanks for your answer. I don't get how it will helps to move the tasks on the roadmap ? I'm talking about two issues that are in a dependency link (blocks) not parent to child.

Do you mean there is an automation rule to do that ?

Hey @climpens ,

Yes, you can use Jira automation to move linked tickets based on a certain trigger.

You can browse thru these libraries to find a template that might help, I found this one to be slightly resembling Rule builder - Automation - Jira

You can update the condition to check for a certain type of link, and based on that move the linked issues :
