The strikethough hsppens when an issue is resolved - that's defined by the resolution field being set to something.

My guess is that your workflow is not handling resolution correctly.  But your question is unclear as to what the problem actually is, so I can't propose any fix.

Most of what you need to do is in the workflow, so you'll need to identify which ones are in use in the project(s) and edit them.

Before you dive into the workflow though, you may want to go to the list of "screens" that you have in your system - you need to find or create one that has the resolution field on it (assuming you want to use one of the methods below)

So, in the workflow, you should first look at the whole thing.  You need to identify each step (status) that represents "issue is closed and needs no more attention".  In a simple workflow, there is likely to be only one, the very last end status, but a lot of people have workflows with other end points, like "cancelled" or "rejected".

Generally, it's best if all the end-states are in the "done" status category as well, but that's not important here.

Once you have your list of done status, for each one, look at each transition that comes from a non-done status.  Edit the transition and do one of two things (do NOT do both)

  • Add the screen you identified with the resolution on it
  • Add a Post-function, selecting "update a field" which will ask you which field (choose resolution) and what value (That's up to you which you want to set)

Now look at all the transitions that go from done status to not-done status.  On all of these, add a post-function (update a field: resolution, again) but choose the "none£ option in the list.  When you save it, it should show as something like "clear the resolution field" in the list of post-functions

Publish this workflow, and you'll find the strike-outs now only happen to issues that are closed.

Why are done issues in the backlog? The strikethrough indicates there is a resolution value which a done issue should have.
