How does EVM calculate Actual Margin in the Issue Details ?
Hello @Mike Perry
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
I'm not familiar with that app.
Have you tried checking their documentation, or contacting the vendor directly to ask that question?
Thank you for your valuable question posed on our forum.
To calculate the 'Actual margin', we utilise the following formula: Actual Margin = Time Spent Price - Time Spent Cost.
Here's a breakdown of how we determine the constituents of this formula:
Upon examining your case, it appears that a significant issue arises due to all '[worklog reporter]' entries being consistently reported by the user "Tempo" instead of the individual who actually reported the time. This issue, unfortunately, is a known limitation of using the Tempo application for time tracking in Jira.
The consistent usage of Tempo often results in a loss of information as other applications are unable to utilise the Jira work logs properties, which are an essential component in calculating costs. Furthermore, if all of the time tracked in your Jira instance is reported by the user "Tempo" instead of the actual time reporter, it creates a dependence on Tempo, limiting your ability to explore and utilise other solutions.
As a result, we strongly recommend considering alternative time tracking solutions that provide accurate reporting and do not restrict access to your invaluable data.
Meanwhile, we are committed to assisting you in navigating this issue. As an interim measure, while you explore other time tracking solutions, we can introduce a feature in the "settings" screen of the Aneto EVM application. This feature would enable the application to calculate all reported time on an issue based on the "assignee" of the issue. However, please note that this could lead to discrepancies if someone other than the assignee reports time on that issue. Nonetheless, implementing a robust Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) within your organization could mitigate such discrepancies and make this workaround viable.
We hope this clarifies the matter and aids in addressing your concerns. Please don't hesitate to reach out should you require further assistance or have any additional queries.
