Hey guys,
In my Jira project, I made a separate workflow for the "Copywriting" subtask. For every other task involved in our project, we're fine with transitioning issues from "To Do" to "In Progress" to "Done". But for the Copywriting task, we need to have it go through 3 approvals. So with that in mind, I created the workflow as seen below
I associated the workflow with the "Copywriting" subtask, so I assumed from this point that it would work. But when we had a regular user with no admin permissions test it out, he was still able to transition the "Copywriting" subtask from "To Do" to "In Progress" or "Done", which wasn't supposed to happen.
We don't want anyone except people in out custom "marketing admin" group to change the status of Copywriting subtasks.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Ian!
You will want to add a Condition on the workflow transition used at the point the issue needs to have approval. To do that select your transition by clicking on the line and the menu on the right will pop up, if you select Conditions you can see a list pop up of available options
You can set a Condition to one of the following types that will work best for your setup.
Okay that worked. Thank you Kimberley.
And also to add on to the previous workflow issue, Are you able to transition issues from multiple statuses within one column while still following the conditional constraints of the workflow?
In other words, instead of displaying multiple columns on the board, I want to have the "Approval" statuses in the "In Progress" column and for the admins to be able to move issues from status to status within that one column. Is this possible?

Hey there!
You should be able to, but it is going to be dependent who had the rights to move the issue. I don't know that they will be able to drag/drop to transition the issue, they might have to have the issue open an use the buttons at the time, but they will remain in the column.
Just remember that status are mapped to the column, but the transitions and the right to make a transition must exist to move from column to column.
