As an Admin I am unable to view private projects. How do I fix this?

I am able to change the project settings as an admin but in the settings it does say that as an admin I should be able to view all projects. When I click on a private project I am unable to view it. I get a white screen and then an error that I attached below.  Is there an issue or something that could be blocking access? Here is a snip of what I am talking about:

I am site admin, jira admin etc. Thanks!

Hi @Krista Dyer

I'm a Jira Admin for one site and I can see all their Next-Gen projects as a list - but I cannot access the project to see the issues.

I can of course go into Project Settings and modify my Access, but I don't get that visibility by default.

I know what the description states, but it's not the behaviour I believe!

Thanks I agree! I think the wording needs changed or the access needs corrected.

Stephen, whats the status of this issue?

I have the same problem. Being org+site+jira admin isn´t enough to see all projects boards. I have tested that I can agregate me as a user in the project, and then do a log out + in, to refresh the permissions, and can finally view the board, but, the question is that in others projects I'm not user either but can view the board instead, so, what's the difference?

All the projects are the next-gen ones. The pervious org admin left the company, so the user have been deactivated and it's projects ownership transfered to me as new org admin.

Looks like something doesn´t work coherent.

Thanks.

Alejandro, As a work around for us we have made all projects limited, not private until it is fixed.

Krista, finally,  I've added the group 'jira-administrators' with role 'administrator' in every project. Was tedious but works as work around too.

it depends on the level of admin permissions you have. Site admins can access all project but Project admins can only access specific project(s) they are an admin for. Can you confirm your level of access?

Hello, I have org and site admin access. Do you need more specifics that that? Thanks.

you should not. I wonder if the project in question has been deleted or if it has been archived (premium). So if you go to the view all projects page can you actually see the project there? If so can you edit it via the ellipses?

I know they arent deleted because they are active projects. I am able to edit on the side. I changed the settings to one to be Limited access and I can now see the project. However if it is just in Private and I click on the project I get that error.

I am able to see all these projects listed under the view all projects. Thanks

I have the same issue.

Do I have to add the jira admin group in all projects?

I don't want to do this. Is there any good way?

I moved all of our projects to private and had to go to each of them to update the groups. I added the proper groups for visibility. Not ideal!
