Hello There,
I have an issue being faced for which I require experts to throw some light on my doubt.
We have a Scrum team comprising a 1 UI designer, Developer, 2 PHP and a Tester working on a project.
We have the tasks identified for the sprint and ready to start with and created sub tasks for each story separately for UI design, Development, PHP service and testing.
The problem is there are few tasks where the UI Developer cannot contribute for this sprint which was taken by the PHP guys. The challenge for me is how to assign those sub tasks to the sprint and get a track of the PHP guys alone, because when i assign the story it includes the other sub tasks (UI design and Development) and its estimation as well. And when i try assigning the Sub task alone its not reflecting as its related to a Parent story.
Please suggest me some steps to get this solved. Looking forward for your answers.
Thanks,
Sathish
JIRA is designed to allow only stories within sprints, not subtasks. A subtask is a task that needs to get the story done in that sprint.
If you have a subtask that needs to go into another sprint, the only option is to split the story and put the second one in the next sprint.
A workaround might be define a new issue type or use the existing one named "Task" and then use issue links to define the relationship. You can use custom issue link type that replaces the parent subtask relation.
Got it Jobin. But my worry is the same user story has to be splitted towards the front end and backed works. But since the Backend has more resources they were able to consume more works for a sprint. Any suggestions to get rid of this issue ??

Split the story into two - one for backend, the other for frontend

Got it Nic. That's what i've planned for the next iteration. Thanks for the input.
